Why are prednisone side effects not coming on?

Sorry if I sound like an ****** but I REALLY don't understand why I'm not getting the side effects of prednisone. I'm one of those people who need the opposite.

I'm underweight so I need some extra meat on my body and appetite.

My appetite doesnt even change. It's like i gotta force myself to eat(well, 4 smaller meals a day)

I don't even get water retention, moon face... or acne.

Last time I was on prednisone, my GI also thought it was odd that I don't get any of these side effects.

Oh one thing I do experience is mental fog.

Take liver revive pills - prednisone must be first converted by the liver to prednisolone which is like the IV solumedrol you get at hospital IT requires no conversion.

I was once taking something the completely blocked the liver enzyme so I got no conversion at all.

How long have you been on it?

I didn't feel the side effects of prednisone until I had been at a high dose for about two months... I needed to gain weight too and I didn't gain any for a long time. Then I did wink

Prednisone actually made my acne a million times better. The only time in my life when I've had really beautiful clear skin was on prednisone. It makes sense as it's a powerful anti-inflammatory. People certainly whine about it more when it causes acne, but it's not uncommon to have skin clear up on pred too.

Yeah, my skin gets lovely. I can stop moisturizer completely on my face, but then it blows up like a smooth, moist balloon :-D

The skin on my hands gets like crepe paper though.

Yes, I had this for sooo long. Lots of painful cracks on my hands, even worse in the winter. I've been off pred for about four months now and my hands are finally starting to "toughen" up and I don't need to moisturize multiple times a day. Yessss!

So you're saying that I'm not metabolizing it? What if I'm metabolizing it perfectly, but my body is coping with the side effects too quickly?
My liver has been always good even when I was on 60mg prednisone, 6mp, entocort, humira, etc at the same time.

I had IV solomedrol twice, didn't really do much except it somewhat made my stomach bloat and made me SO weak. They had it pumping it in me new IV solomedrol every 6 hours for like 2 days straight because the flare was so bad.

And I don't know if this has to do with liver, anesthesia always wears off quickly on me. It's helll. I was getting my Cyst removed and I felt the whole thing thru.

Even right after colonoscopy, I wake up fine, not too dizzy at all.

I've been on Prednisone for only 5 days now.

And my doctor wants me to go down by 10mg after the first week? Isn't it too fast? 40mg to 30mg?

I rarely got any side effects when on pred...then it stopped working all together for me.

Then you don't have a problem do you ? What does 'coping with the side effects too quickly' mean? If they are side effects they are unwanted so how can they be dealt with too quickly ?

Stuff works perfectly for me, getting tons done at work and home, its not healthy it stiffens the cardiovascular system so going to taper down quickly with RS diet. I never get acne from it. Interferes with weight training and thins bones along with temp moon face.

Be grateful .... I have had every side effect. I am severely overweight, I have moon face and a distended belly, I have sensitive teeth, I bruise quickly, I have osteoporosis, I get easily agitated, I sweat, my joints ache. I wouldn't wish these side effects on anyone. And now even after surgery my ody lipped out impinge off Pred Andia have to do yet another slow taper.

As for the taper, if you aren't experiencing bad side effects, a 10mg weekly taper should be fine. You only need a slower taper if you have problems.

You know what, I take it back.

I think I experienced hallucinations and anxiety attack as side effects after taking prednisone this morning.

Things are not going well lol

Everyone has different symptoms. It happens. As long as your getting better from it that's the most important part.
