splitting enemas?

My flare has taken a turn for the worse lately and I've had some trouble retaining enemas. I've started just administering half the bottle and if I have to go in the middle of the night I'll administer the other half....I found it a lot easier to retain that way (and I think just knowing I have more "just in case" reduces my anxiety of potentially losing the days enema - which reduces my need to go somehow).

You guys think this is a good idea? Also...should I just chuck the remaining enema the next morning if I don't use it or can i actually use the other half the next night...or is that nasty? :)

sure, use the remainder of the enema the following day. no harm in that as the bottles have a valve that keeps contamination from getting in. I've done it before myself without issues.

as far as the downsides of using only half the bottle go, I suspect the liquid doesn't travel as far in the sigmoid colon as when a whole bottle is used. how far does your disease go? may or may not matter if your disease doesn't go far. I'm in the 70 cms club, so I need the enema to go pretty far..

If your retaining it for a few hours I would use the whole thing. The medicine part of the enema should be absorbed by then. Now if you have to go only after a half hour then I would do half and then afterwards do the other half.
