Hey Medz.. I was just going to make a similar post on here. Alternative to Biologics for those that have failed.
Curcumin, Green Tea Extract, Apple Peals, Carrot and Soybean polyunsaturated phosphatidylcholine (PC) - All lower TNF-a just like the biologics do.
More so PC also effect the mucus... So double benefit. The problem is how much to take and all that. I was going to ask if people could post studies so we could root through and figure out a proper dose - It would be a significant amount required.
On the apple peel side, (which I tired) but gave up cause it's difficult to eat this many every day - But I came across an article once in Science Daily about
a year or so ago. At the end of the article, the author stated something like this "Our results showed that compounds from fresh apple peels are an alternative to look into versus biological tnf-a blockers, although the compounds would be better suited in capsules that are possibly freeze dried as it would take 6 a person ingesting apple peals daily to equal the dosage requirements of a biologic drug known as Remicade, which would be highly impractical." Something akin to this... But it was very direct in the dosage amount.
One key being
"fresh", hence the freeze dried possibility ... SO not polyphenol or pectin supplements.
I was like 6 apple peals?? That's it?? I can do it. I lasted about
4 days... Was brutal.
I'm not one for conspiracy theories, but about
a month later I was searching to find the article again, and still to this day, after going through and searching Science Daily I have never been able to find it since. Like it totally disappeared... I think I have read every article they ever published on apples with no luck in finding it again lol.. I always wondered in the back of my mind if it was pulled cause they mentioned Remicade.
In any case maybe others have some studies (an all alternatives to TNF-a blockers) that we can sift through and find real dosage info. I know it's a bit of an old topic anyway, but perhaps people have some bookmarks kicking around.
I have posted about
the apple thing before. I forgot about
the fresh aspect though the last time I posted until thinking about
it again now. So that may be important.
Alternatively maybe there's some kitchen handy folks on here that could teach us how to freeze dry and grind up our own in powder form or something... If even possible
