Since I am not able to have any success with meds for my left sided issues (sigmoid, rectum), I need help. Has anyone had any success with an alternative/natural treatment specifically for left sided colitis. Someone mentioned having success with a Vitamin E enema. Any other interesting ideas like this? I even tried sticking aloe vera up my but but don't know if I did it right.

Have you tried Cortifoam, a steroid enema? It seems to target that area and has few side effects. Burns a little in a flare, I'm told.

I think you're looking at the problem with too narrow of a vision. You seem to be obsessed with sticking something up your butt. It's possible some natural alternative could help that doesn't involve rectal application although I really don't know of any that would be said to target a specific area.

Almost everyone has rectal issues because that is a common area of inflammation. The size of the inflamed area doesn't matter, can still be a major creator of symptoms.
Your oral drug failures sound like mine, nothing ever, ever worked and supplements didn't either (cabinet full of failures also). I tried Vit E enemas and nothing much came of it except creating a BM if inserted in the morning, an active bathroom time.
I second the suggestion for steroid enemas, if you are able to get the foam type that is the best, but any will help. Then after 2 weeks switch to the mesalamine enemas because steroids should not be used for a long period.
You can also use suppositories during the day (use enemas at night) but the enemas reach more area and will do you the most good.
Also search this forum for "resistant starch" threads to add some to your daily diet. This could help healing too.
I have left-sided diagnosis and it took me a looong time to get improvement. I wish "natural" methods were the answer but there are only a few I had success with: drinking clay water as an antibiotic, taking oregano oil (ditto), diet modification to remove trigger foods, drinking veggie juices for healing, adding resistant starches. None were overnight successes but are worth trying for anyone because they have few side effects. (Don't drink clay water near taking Rx pills).
Good luck.

Hi, I think the only thing you should be putting up your bottom is a steroid enema.
