Balsalazide price increase anyone?

My generic Rx of Balsalazide just increased from $92 (270 pills) a month to over $300. I called my insurer to find out if this was a mistake and they are "looking into it". While on the call I asked her to look up what Colazal cost is and it's now the same as generic. What? How is that possible. There are 3 generic manufacturers, can they all be colluding to fix the price?

I then called other pharmacies and they cannot give me an insurance adjusted price until I transfer the prescription to them. Such a friendly business Big Pharma is. Sign the contract then I'll tell you the price.

Anyone else had a big jump in price? Last month $92 and this month over $300. Ridiculous and smacks of price-fixing.

Just to defend Big Pharma, just a little bit, the pharmacies can't tell you the price of something through your insurance until they have the information to do it, basically meaning switching your prescription over to them. Now, they (the pharmacies) should be able to tell you how much the prescription would cost if you have no insurance at all but then that wouldn't show you what you would be paying. Big Pharma doesn't have anything at all to do with any of that process. It's not them not telling you the price, it is the pharmacy. As far as price fixing goes, I'm not going to defend Big Pharma on that one.

I just got notified by my pharmacy that the price went up from 7 dollars to over 300 dollars. They said to call my insurance.
