I disagree about
judging Vit D by your symptoms, it may or may not be helpful for your particular UC. But that is not the point, optimum levels are for general health. Google " vit D heart disease", vit D cancer, or vitamin D anything and draw your own conclusions.
Optimum blood levels of vitamin D are between 40 and 60 ng/dl. Take as much D (D3 is the best form) as you need to achieve that level. You need to be careful because you can overdose if level is over 100 ng/dl.
