UC meds definitely have caused me heavier than usual hair shedding, but then so have antibiotics, especially (ugh!) Tetracycline. I've taken Colazal most of the time since 2003 because it turned out to be my big break-thru med toward achieving remission, and would say (based on this experience) that it does bring on more hair loss than I had before UC. Only you can speak for your own hair growth rate, though, comparative thickness, etc.-- so you'll have to judge your perceived loss in terms of the amount left, whether you see new growth, texture & healthy aspect of its appearance, those kinds of considerations-- before deciding you're really in trouble on that account. Many forum members have posted about excessive hair loss from Lialda, and some recommend the supplement Biotin for promoting new growth, also Nioxin shampoo. Let me just add here that inflammation stresses the body so that if you are showing signs of a flare-up, that could be contributing to your hair loss, too. Moving likewise can be a stressful situation so you may need to take extra good care of yourself with regard to diet, rest, & recreation as you adjust to your new location. / Old Hat (33 yrs with left-sided UC; presently in remission taking brandname Colazal)
