New rectal med and one opinion question

Hey hate,

I have heard this from both of my GIs. It seems to contradict a lot of the stories from this board though. I know we've heard countless stories of the 'it was mild for ten years, then bam!' variety.

On the other hand, I have seen some folks here talk about how UC tends to 'burn itself out' with older age... Hopefully they're right.

Yeah, I hear ya Levi. It does fly in the face of this board...sometimes wonder though if we don't represent the vast majority. Oh, and to have UC burn out...I've heard that. Sounds fabulous but sometimes I think it's an urban legend or fake like the tooth fairy and unicorns..lol.

I'm actually doing fine, thanks for asking! No symptoms and I even finished a course of amoxicillin for a sinus infection about a week ago. I used hydrocort enemas for a couple of weeks or so (just every other night, because I didn't sleep well when using them every night) after I realized that the mesalamine enemas were causing problems, but I'm not using anything for maintenance. I don't think it's a good idea to use steroid rectal meds long-term.

My GI said a while back that he suspected I'd be ok without the mesalamine enemas, but I was too afraid to quit, as I'd been so stable. I guess he was right, though!

I guess I would try Uceris enemas but I can't imagine they are any more useful than cortifoam or a steroid enema.
