OT - Stress, meds, need advice

I quit a stressful and verbally/emotionally abusive position mid-August. I was extremely stressful before, during, and a bit after my resignation. I didn't really deal with it. I just pushed it away and left things alone. I'm still dealing with issues since he has yet to pay me. So I am now stressed about school expenses that are adding up, and the labour complaint I put against him.

Well, now I'm having problems sleeping, poor concentration, confusion, emotional, or moody at any given time. What I am asking is, can a stressful event about a month and a half ago affect me now? I thought it would affect me then, not now.

I was on Cipralax for about 2 years for depression and insomnia for an unrelated issue. I finally got off of it mid-June. I'm still on Doxepin at 30mg a night. I was planning on getting off of it, but my doctor said not to. I should up my dose to 40 or 50 mg, depending what dose works, then let it help me for how ever long I need to. I guess I'm still on it then.

Of course that stress is effecting you now. You haven't been paid, expenses are mounting, and the labor complaint is stressing both you and him out. Are you working anywhere else?

No. I'm just focusing on school. I thought if the majority of the stress was gone that I would be alright. Once again, I was wrong.

Brilliant that you had the strength to resign. Hope the residual issues get sorted quick and you can get back to feeling better.

I think stress is stress...and it all affects us negatively...doesn't matter if you're stressed about many things at once or just one thing (if that's even possible in anyone's life) it all builds up cuz even if you're only stressing about something minor for example, then it's still going to affect you negatively the longer you stress about it. I truly hope everything works out for you and you're able to live a more stress-free life for the sake of your health.

Sorry that happened, Sibby. Good that you are pursuing the money owed you & I hope you get it soon. I don't think it's unusual to still feel stressed after 1 month & a half, especially when the events messed with your finances. In the spring I got double-billed for a specialist doctor visit-- purely because his young clerk was in a hurry to process my insurance paperwork & filled it out wrong then submitted it to the insurance HQ that way. Of course the burden then fell on me to get correction forms, photocopy supporting docs, etc.-- so I felt abused. It took over 3 months 'til I got a refund of the excess charge, but a check finally came in the snail-mail one day-- whew! So hang in there & try to think of something pleasant if it comes to mind while you're trying to fall asleep-- maybe do progressive relaxation exercises in bed or listen to music. / Old Hat (34 yrs with left-sided UC; presently in remission taking brandname Colazal)
