Please try this Nopal and give it three or four days even if you start to feel better or go back to normal before the four days and or continue trying until you go back to normal. Give it a good try. And don't worry it has no taste.

My wife says don't forget to let it sit overnight first.

By the way I'm 38 years old now and have a poor diet am 15 pounds overweight, but no UC

Could you please tell us the meds that you did take?

I believe I was taking asacol , prednisone , and I don't recall the other med but it was three different. The asacol was three three times a day

Don't mind people in here, most of them like to only talk about articles that make no sense.. Heaven forbid if you call something a cure. "Tie him up and give him 30 lashes, he said it's a cure!"

The reaction to suggestion about NOPAL on this forum is strange. Nobody reacted when people talked about
Turmeric Indian spice. Boswellia, Aloe Vera gel etc which are all natural remedies. Why such a fuss about Mexican natural cactus, NOPAL. I thank the guy who shared his experience about NOPAL and will like to research more about it.
The lowest rate of UC is in Koreans, Japanese and Chinese....intermediate rates of UC are in Indians and Latin Americans and highest rate of UC is in western Europeans and Americans....the extremely high rate of UC is in
white Jews.
Now, you can speculate the cause of low rate in Asians...diet= a lot of veggies and natural herbal spices..
lower stress due to families support and intactness, low levels of divorce giving some sense of stability, less
materialistic thinking and less craziness about making lots of money ,buying big houses, big cars and even private jets. (too much narcissism)...lets keep speculating..any suggestions...oh by the way..i forgot to mention that they have whipworms, pin worms and hookworms in their intestines. Ova are in drinking water !

I have been reading this site since I was diagnosed with UC on Jan 1 2013 and usually any questions I have are answered by someone in a post. This time I had to join so I can get some clarification. I am very interested in trying the nopal treatment, but have some questions I hope you can answer. I have been in a stubborn minor flare for almost a year now -- mostly formed stool, 1-3 times a day, no diarrhea, but I see blood too often. Last scope in October showed moderate inflammation and ulcerations from sigmoid to mid transverse. Rowasa seems to work pretty well at keeping rectum clear, but Asacol HD and Uceris can't seem to clear up the rest since I am still seeing blood. I recently had a bad reaction to azathioprine (high liver enzymes) and had to stop taking it after only being on it for 2 months. I really hated going on that drug, felt bad while on it and don't want to have to go on a different med (Humira was mentioned by dr). I did a little research on the nopales cactus and have found some articles about it.

My questions involve the preparation and the dosage:
1) When you cut the leaves and scrape the jelly, what goes in the water -- the jelly or the scraped leaves?
2) Is the water cold or hot to start with before you leave it sit overnight?
3) Is the water at room temperature when you drink it the next day (and the next several days)?
4) Do you remove the leaves/jelly after it steeps overnight and just keep the water in the pitcher?
5) Do you drink just 1 glass each day or multiple times a day?

If you could ask your wife (since she prepared this for you) more details about the preparation I would be very grateful.

The nopal and water mixture should be kind of gel like and
Adding chia seeds at the same time is recommended as well.
It has virtually no taste.

Thank you so much! Do you put both the gel stuff & the "skin" of the leaf in the water or just the gel stuff? I really want to give this a try and want to make sure I do it the correct way.

Myself , I dont take nopal regularly. Only when I feel a flare up coming back, which was only about three in the last 5 or 6 years.
And stopped them before they got bad. Great feeling!

Thanks! I am going to stop after work and see if I can find some nopal. I think I saw it at the grocery store in the produce section before. I'll let you know how I make out!
