What do you use to gently get things moving?

These are safe herbal ones

1> Triphala
2> Haritaki herb
3> Isabgol
4> Ginger
5> Castor oil packs
6> Magnesium oil packs
7> Magnesium citrate or glycinate
8> Iberogast

I take Miralax if other things don't work. Typically for me, juiced apples usually get me going.

My GI said that Miralax is safe to take for occasional constipation. For me it usually takes about 2 days for it to work, but it does the trick.

I used Miralx near the end of my pregnancy with my daughter - gotta love pregnancy-induced constipation! I also used it afterwards, due to pain-medication-induced constipation, because I had a C-section. Both my OBGYN and GI were fine with it.

Before I tried Miralax, though, I drank prune juice and such, but it didn't work.

Prune juice, half of a small glass late at night (around 10 pm) a few hours before going to bed, then when I wake up in the morning I generally will have a bm with ease, without the prune juice regularly (at least every other day if not everyday) then I get major constipated...better and faster and more effective than any OTC that I've tried and I think I tried them all.

We're all different of course, trial and error as usual, you won't know what works or doesn't work until you try it. Good luck!

Warm green tea in the morning on an empty stomach helps get me moving.

I don't smoke cigs anymore, but when I was in my younger days, nothing got it to move faster than a smoke ;).

I am rarely constipated but what worked for me was Apple Cider Vinegar, it is a fermented version of apples and they have many beneficial properties that help to aid digestion and treat constipation. Here is the link..

I buy the Safeway brand kamakya and it's actually not bad tasting, it's kinda the smell and thickness of it that grosses me out a bit but definitely worth every drop if it means I won't be straining in pain daily and frequently.
