springtime flare

Dear All, I appear to get a flare this time of the year. Also, I'm not sure if it is a flare or spasms in my colon. But there's mucus and rushes to the pot. I'm holding off calling the GI, but I don't know if I can reverse it on my own. I'm tired of the meds all the time - I already take Apriso all the time. Would you have any ideas on trying to reverse a flare in the making? Best regards, Teacher

If you have urgency for more than a couple days, you might need to add some retention enemas or Cortifoam to your regimen to head off a full flare. Definitely take care even though you get fed up with meds. / Old Hat (34 yrs with left-sided UC; presently in remission taking brandname Colazal)

After trying 12 different forms of creatine it was confirmed. None of them work for me and I flared over Chirstmas. I got sick of fighting the good fight after eating some old leftovers that sent me deep over the edge. I ordered some pred but applied some expired hydrocortisone bottles and it was amazing how improved I was. If I had more of the bottles I think I could have easily avoided the pred cycle I am tapering off of now.

Thanks all. The GI's prescribed rowasa enemas. It's all so very depressing. I never seem to reach complete remission in 12 years. Keep hearing of work towards a cure, but I guess it'll be a while. Best to you all. Teacher
