black stools?

Blood in stool has different colors depending on how far it has travelled. Bright red is bleeding in the rectum, it progresses to wine color as it goes further, and black when you originated in the small intestine or stomach. It's generally very black, more so than brown.

Black stool is never good with only a few exceptions. The black stool can be from Pepto Bismo and certain foods you eat. But yes, black stool is just that, black. I had black stool about 2 years ago and stomach pain. Turned out I had a bleeding stomach ulcer.
