Prednisone taper

I have been on some dose of Pred for almost 5 years now. The majority of this time was 10mg or less, however, there were some times @ 60mg or IV pred plus a small dose of oral, plus rectal as well. I have had two doses of Entyvio and I am also taking weekly shots of MTX. I need to start this taper but I do not know how slow to go since my adrenals are clearly sleeping after such long term use. Just had an appointment with my doc this week and he wants me to go from 10mg to 7.5 now for one week and then go down by 1mg every week until done. Does this seem slow enough or should I slow even further? Thoughts are appreciated.

I've tapered several times & that plan should work well.

My experience from struggling to get off steroids is you go as slow as you need to. Try weekly. But if that doesn't work go slower. I only got off steroids when I tapered at 1mg/2mg per month... Even then I had rocky drops ... But kept with it to get of the stuff. Whatever pace, whatever you get down to (hopefully zero) it will be better than where you are. Good luck.
