What helps you with Imuran side effects?

I just started taking Imuran and even though it'll be a few weeks before I know whether it's helping my UC, I started noticing fatigue and nausea/stomach pain immediately. I'm concerned about developing other potential symptoms like hair loss and joint pain.

Did your Imuran side effects stop after some time taking the medication?
Do you guys have any tips or tricks to help with the side effects?

I take half dose in morn and half at night. I eat something, nothing helps lately with loss of sleep and fatigue.

The most likely side effect is nausea within the first few weeks of starting, it goes away after longer term use. To help avoid it, you are best to take your Imuran right before going to bed and with food (a snack). That's the only frequent one.

I barely ever get nauseous, just sleep issues

I used to get nausea and abdominal pain in the beginning so I made sure to take it with a big breakfast
Now I'm a couple months in and I can take it on an empty stomach without issues

I got really nauseous in the 3rd month of taking it. I had Zofran which didn't do anything. Phenergan helps but makes me really tired. I chew on a piece of ginger when I get nauseous and it really helps. I still deal with nausea once in a while but I can deal with it a lot better than a flare. I always have ginger in the house.

My hair loss has decreased after a while.

I had a lot of nausea in the early stages with Imuran, started taking before bedtime, and a script for Zofran. I still have nausea once in awhile bu nothing like when I started Imuran.
Joint pain? I am having quite a bit of it IMO. Have developed arthritis in hand joints, knees get really sore, hasn't helped my chronic low back pain (from disc herniation.) And I'm not getting any younger. In all seriousness, I am increasingly concerned with my arthritis symptoms....
