Anyone here diagnosed with or have information about microscopic colitis, specifically collagenous colitis? I do not believe it is considered under UC, although not sure. I have questions concerning diet and medications. Diagnosed over two years' ago, refused meds/diet at that time, was able to keep matters, somewhat, under control with maybe 3-5 flares over that time, but now in an over 3 month flare and I'm ready to work with the GI doc with diet and meds. Would love opinions of those that have lived with this. Thanks so very much,

That is the type of colitis I have, MC. It hasn't been a cure but I improved my situation by avoiding wheat, along with other grains. A few supplements have helped such as vitamin D3 aiming for a testing level around 50g/ml or higher. Of late I've been looking to avoid soy, to the extent that I'm avoiding animal products were the animal had been fed soy meal. Basically I'm only eating wild caught fish. So far so good, I've seen improvements. I hope it continues.

If you have not seen it you might visit Wayne Persky's web sight. I believe he wrote the only book on MC that is available. It can be seen at Perskyfarms.com. In the book and chat room diet and medications are discussed such as Low Dose Naltrexone (LDN), Budesonide, etc. Good luck.
