escalate child’s meds even when feeling ok???

Happy on the improvements. That's nuts on 6 month scopes. Incredibly invasive for little gain. I'd suggest an alternative of an ongoing CRP or FCP monitoring instead, and should something come back crazy elevated then go to the scope. I hope you have continued success.

My 2-cents is a scope is for assessment at the onset of a flare, for when nothing's working and it's necessary to make a big decision, and for CRC preventive screening after 8-10 years w/uc.

I am so glad that there is improvement....great news!!!!!!

As far as colonoscopies every 6 months to a year....I think that is waaayyy too much. Those are very hard on the colon along with the harsh prep. I personally flare up after and for me, it makes things worse. I know that they need to be done sometimes but I do the minimum to be safe and not one time more. It also wipes out all of the gut flora. So my opinion is that it is completely overkill.

From my understanding - it takes long time for the colon to heal and back to normal . So give some more time for the diet to make the colon healthy. Slowly add little gluten at a time and move on..

Totally against doing colonoscopy every 6 months when there is no symptoms. I feel it will upset the recovering colon .

DD running on 5+yrs after diagnosis . Had only 1 colonoscopy and 1endoscopy in 2011 that diagnosed her with UC. Even though GI recommends colonoscopy we haven't done any as she doesn't have any symptoms...

After my first flair, we tried the limited to no meds route; it didn't work out so well for me. I'm on mercaptopurine and allopurinol, now. I definitely don't think you're being stubborn, becausse these medicines really are scary. But I can tell you this, there are very few potential side effects worse than a flair. Don't put your son on that path. Take the remicade, so that he doesn't have to learn that lesson the hard way like I did
