Ostomy question

So they say your ileostomy is supposed to be numb to the touch. Mine however, I can feel and it hurts. It's a sharp stinging pain when I move much and bend forward etc or if the bag pulls. I figured it's the skin surrounding but I purposely push on the ostomy and it hurts. Anyone else have this? Is this normal for post op and it gets better once it heals? I'll ask my surgeon Friday but I'm curious

The skin around the stoma is very sensitive and can develop a separation if it's pulled often - especially immediately following surgery. If that happens, it's almost like having an ulcer or cut in the area between. it's difficult to tell whether you're feeling the stoma itself or if you're irritating that area. I was always doing a lot after surgery and I believe I was dealing with this situation (mucocutaneous separation - look it up and see). The bag always felt like it was pulling down and it hurt. I didn't go to the doctor for it, just took it really easy for a while. Eventually it got better - I felt no pain once it healed.
