Hey everyone, given that thanksgiving is tomorrow and most of us have a very particular diet we like to follow I thought it would be cool to hear some of your favorite recipes/meals to eve while dealing with this crappy disease! This is my first major holiday while flaring so I know my meal will be very bland and a true test of my will power!

Turkey, mashed potatoes and greens beans are well loved by my gut so game on!
We're eating at home so no worries but even if we were at someone's home I could eat without worries, except for dessert. I'd probably fall to dessert temptation and have pecan pie (I love pecans, my gut does not).
I used to be a vegetarian (pre-UC) and had no probs with Thanksgiving at in-laws. My UC food list is a bit more restricted than vegetarian was but I can always find something to eat.
If you are going out why not bring something you know is safe to eat, then you may not be as tempted. Being hungry and surrounded by food is no fun.

In the past, some have eaten before going to their Thanksgiving dinner, when they've got a real strict diet for their uc. As then you can just pick at safe foods at the actual dinner and not succumb to something that's going to make mr colon have a fit.
I'm fortunate in that no specific food seems to upset my uc symptoms.

I live so far from family, I usually end up on my own to some extent. I actually don't remember the last time i spent thanksgiving with family. I love relaxing alone on holidays. The city empties out, everyone leaves to visit family elsewhere in the country. It feels very peaceful here - it's the only time of year it's like this...
I will eat the basics. I made some cranberry sauce and stuffing. I love sides. Probably
open a bottle of wine.. should have made a cheesecake. it's difficult to share recipes because I don't know what people's restrictions are, but I know in my case, when dealing with a flare up, it's best to eat light. The last thing you want to do is over-stuff and then end up on a long car ride.

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone here! I pretty much ate everything on the plate tonight...turkey, corn, mashed potatoes, key lime pie...but in small portions, and really hoping I don't regret it later. So far, so good.

I hope everyone is having a good morning with no regrets from endulgences past
My brother always has craft beer on tap, a weakness of mine and enemy of my uc when i over-endulge. Test passed ... I might've been just a little worried though... lol

IPoop I came to make sure everyone was doing good as well!
I was able to make it through the main course just sticking with sides and only having a little bit of Turkey and ham... But then the desserts came! If there's one weakness it is cheesecake, Oreo cheesecake at that! It was so good going in, but made for a long night coming out. In the end, totally worth it!
Hope everyone had a good thanksgiving, I know I'm thankful for this page and the reassurance you've all given me these past few months.
