In line with the above but geared specifically toward UC,
Colonic tuberculosis mimicking ulcerative colitis

/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/8633510 - this one I can't read either but it supposedly shows similarities where in rare cases colic TB mimic Ulcerative-Colitis. It was referenced by a book discussing this subject.
So the first papers point at the top of the thread, could it be a 'similar' organism to the one responsible for a 'similar' disease? A very old question.
Interestingly as well, note that in intestinal TB often no traditional bacillus form bacteria can be found. However they do have Intestinal TB... In some cases biopsies with acid fast bacilli TB bacteria it can be less than <6% of patients tested. So they rely on other markers.
Anyway, I still think it's worth while for them to poke around on the whole MAP subject in relation to both forms of IBD. At least disproving it with UC would one more thing to cross off the list and narrow things down.
Poking around also reveals a range of other infectious organisms that also mimic Ulcerative Colitis. We don't really read, or hear about
much on these...
