Does vitamin d defiency contribute to uc? I notice a lot of people on here take vitamin d. Is there a reason why? confused

Having UC tends to go hand in hand with abnormal blood count (i.e. UC sufferers typically have higher white blood cell counts). I was told that I'm mildly anemic because of my UC, and a doctor suggested taking 2000 IU of Vitamin D.

Get your blood levels of vitamin D checked. Optimum levels are at least 40-60 ng/dl. Over 100 ng/dl is approaching overdose but most people are deficient.

We are more prone to vitamin deficiencies B, b12, and D most commonly. The reason can be genetic. B12 (folate) deficiencies can be one of several severities based on a genetic mutation.

not sure that having low levels of D has been shown to be a cause of UC or not - but once you are lucky enough to become infected with UC, then D levels seem to be affected -
