Clean scope today, although it was a sigmoidoscopy not a full colonoscopy- so no idea what caused sudden onset of symptoms. I was in a solid remission, no symptoms, hadn't had diarrhea in over a year in spite of eating whatever. Then, one day, diarrhea and no turning back. Been about 6 weeks like this now, plus about 10+ pounds weight loss. Biopsy won't be back for about two weeks, but I just know it's going to be explained as "IBS", which is hard to swallow. My bowels just woke up one day and decided to be irritable?? Advice? Should I push for a full scope or wait it out a bit?

I would take some IBS meds and see if they help. You can do the full scope later if those meds do not help.

Well you have indeterminate-colitis, any history of inflammation higher than a sigmoidoscopy could reach? I'd ask for an MRI or similar xray in order to ruleout higher inflammation before callimg it IBS.

Gotten tested for gut bugs?
There was just recently a post about this here (do a search) and poster with problems got tested by their GI and results were "no bug" but problems continued so they went to naturopath who did more extensive (longer development of bacterial growth I think) and they got relief with specific antibiotics.

Just an idea to consider.

Any blood or urgency? Those are two things that are really particular to colitis, in my opinion.

Sounds frustrating though! That's my biggest fear is that they'll do a scope and be like- oh, you're fine. Just deal.

Did u also get tested for c diff and stuff?

This is my EXACT. SAME. PROBLEM.

I just had a colonoscopy a little over a month ago. GI says I'm in clinical remission, but I have had no improvement of my symptoms. Frequent, urgent, watery D. He's calling it IBS.

I'm almost positive mine is bacteria related, because when I was on Vancomycin 4 times I got almost 100% better within 24 hours of the first pill each time. I also got better when I had to take Augmentin last December. I also got better the first four or five days I was taking Xifaxan, but then my symptoms came back.

There's always Small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO) that could explain it. The colonoscopy doesn't go that far.

Thank you for the replies. I guess I shouldn't jump to conclusions and wait to see what the GE says at our followup. I haven't been tested for bugs, I guess I will ask about that if he doesn't bring it up. Ipoop-I've never had inflammation higher than 30cm range, but you are correct, my ibd is indeterminate and that's because on my first scope I had no inflammation in the rectum, only in the 15-30cm range. Followup scope was inflammation only in the rectum, so it is possible that I have inflammation higher than a sigmoidoscopy could see and have rectal sparing.
I can understand if these symptoms had remained the whole time even though no inflammation present, but I was 100% symptoms free for over a year, and now all of the sudden symptoms but no inflammation. Very puzzling

I know this post is a couple months old but you said your first scope showed inflammtion only in 15-30cm range? This sounds similar to my first scope. What were the biospy results if you dont mind me asking?

I cannot understand why your doc would have done only a flex sig if you are indeterminate. You could very well have inflammation higher up.
