The good, bad and ugly of Prednisone or is it omoperzole side effects?

I've been off pred now for three weeks, my hips just ache!!i feel every pain sad it really tore up my gut and throat! I'm taking omepozole twice a day and pepto and tums and finally I'm getting relief!

But now this hip pain is the worst and it started just when I started my omoperzole. Any connections? I read there maybe. A side effect. If only been on it a week, but that's how long my hips started to hurt and getting worse . It's like bone pain. I just took my morning dose and will not take evening and see how I do.

I'm doing ok UC/Crohn's wide, still seeing some blood. I take my next Stelara shot on July 4th. 3months in now. It seems to help. I thought stelara was taking away all my aches, but that must of been the pred.

Finally I'm sleeping better too! It took me ahile to get my energy back as well. There were some days when I was off it, I could just crash. Usually around noon, I couldn't hold my eyes open!!!it was so bad.

well taking getting off prednisone, if you've been on them for a long time like i have, seems to affect your body's natural production of cortisol and may affect your endocrine system. you will get nausea and aches like in some joints and feel loss of energy like you have a cold or a flu. you may also experience skin problems like overdrying and eczema. about a month after i stopped taking prednisone is when i would experience these symptoms. your symptoms might not be due to the new meds but due to the side effects of your system being out of prednisone. getting back on prednisone, you will immediately notice your aches going away and you feel like you have more energy and not as weak. you may want to ask your doc. i was referred to an endocrine specialists but unfortunately i had to get back on prednisone again before i could go and they can't peform the tests needed while prednisone is in your system still.

THank you for the feed back. Gives me a lot to think about. I will cut back my omeporzole dose and see if I feel better

Were you taking prednisone while on stelara?

This is a 2017 post.....much has changed in therearemiracles med regimens since then, so it's not a current situation.
