How is ice cream after surgery?? Does sugar increase dehydration??

Why not? If you're worried about dehydration then drink more. You're not running the risk of a blockage, that is the real worry the first month or so.

You'll be able to eat(tolerate) the most types of foods with the End-Ileo(first surgery). When you get your loop-ileo (2nd surgery) you'll be limited with certain types of foods and that may continue for the first few months with your J-pouch.

Go wild with your food types with the end ileo. You run a greater chance of blockage with a loop ileo.

I agree with Keith. With my end ileo, I really had no troubles at all. I enjoyed everything, from sweets to martinis (once I was well enough and free of pain). You're still very new with it, so definitely take it easy, and don't overdo it, but you can likely expect to be able to eat everything you did before UC.
