I scoured the forum for past threads on Methortrexate, and the ones I found were 2-3 years old .
I started Metho last week, injections, once per week. My Rheum Doc put me on injections due to poor absorption issues, as I was recently Dx'd with Vit B-12 and Vidt D Deficiency.

I have been on Humira for 8 weeks, currently treating a flare with Pred, and stopped Imuran when I started Metho. The Imuran failed me after 3 years so that is why I started Humira.

I came here seeking feedback after reading some posts in a Facebook UC Group I belong to. Some folks were chiming in with horrible claims on their experience with Methotrexate.

So, with that in mind, any feedback to this inquiry is appreciated.

Methotrexate isn't commonly prescribed for UC, but our buddies on the Crohn's forum use it regularly (MTX clinical trials were only for Crohn's, therefore not officially-approved for UC treatment but sometimes prescribed off-label to UC). You might want to give them a shout over on there at the Crohn's forum and I bet they can let you know. There's a few with UC that use Methotrexate, can't remember whom.

I was on MTX for a while (didn't work for me). Weekly injections of 25mg. The worst side effects for me was the nausea and the tiredness, but scheduling can help with that. I would feel nauseas within a few hours and tired 18-24 hours later, so I did the injections on Thursday evenings so I could sleep through the nausea and the tiredness would hit Friday evening.

It's important to take folic acid while on MTX. I took 2mg/day.
