Struggling along after surgery #2-with a hole in incision

Bag seems to last 3 days at most.Trying to get stool formed is a full time job-imodium always on hand,Dr wants me taking 2-4x a day.Still have 20 plus staples running down middle of stomach which reminds me to take it easy.Visiting nurse just spotted hole in incision.What sucks is when bag leaks it leaks to incision side so have to make sure if theres a leak i keep it away from incision.Called surgeon and emailed over picture of incision.Might have to go in to Drs office to get checked out.Waiting for return call.Hope for good things

3 days is pretty good compared to what I got with my loop. I think trying to get stool formed would have been impossible for me. It was mostly liquid, but I just let it be what it was, and waited the 8 weeks, changing constantly. Time passed fairly quickly. That's frustrating about the incision though I never had a leak that went beyond the ring inside the wafer. You really shouldn't have that very often either, especially if you're getting 3 days of wear time. I think I'd rather change every day or two, than deal with a leak. Can you just change before it leaks so you don't have to deal with output on the incision? Can you send a picture for him to look at? I did that with my surgeon, but he's only a few miles away, so getting there wasn't too difficult.

I feel like a jpouch is in my near future. How often do you change the bag?
Also-(and this might be a better question for a woman) how do you dress so it's not noticeable?

After surgery 1 your stool is more formed so less likely to have leaks with little help from Imodium. Changed bag every 3-6 days. After #2 around 2-4 days. I'm a tall guy 6'5. Usually 230ish. Now around 218. I have DBL XL shirts plus flannel shirts that hide bag fine. I'm a contractor so usually not a problem hiding it

I think you are overly focused on if your stool is solid or not, there are a lot of factors that go into that and you need to realize that your intestine is still healing and not able to absorb as much liquid so your output will be more liquid and volume. There are stronger meds than Imodium if you need it.

I'd eat bananas, 2 immodium in am, 2 in afternoon and lomotil for night. I changed my bag every 5-6 days with the loop ileo. I had irritated skin around the stoma but never any leaks outside of that. My skin belly was also very flat though and no hair.

When you say you "change your bag" is that the same as emptying you bag?

3timechamp glad to hear all went well. You said you only empty your bag 3-4 times a day ? Wow !! I am emptying my bag easily 10 or more times a day and I have the high out put bag . So the imodium must really be working . And changing it every 2-3 days it’s still ulcerated around the stoma area from leaks
I know you are only a few weeks after me in surgeries but are you releasing mucus ? I am experiencing butt pain from releasing the mucus 5-6 times a day .
