So much acne after prednisone

Im currently stopping my intakes of on and off prednisone with 20mg a day, But after one day huge bumps and steroid acnes shown up in my back neck, in my neck and in my underarms which is worst. Please i dont know what to do please help me. im currently in my first month of acnetrex right now with 20mgs a day. I never said to my dermatologist that i've been taking an prednisone for 3 years. Please is it normal to have this huge acnes after i stopped the prednisone. And how long will i suffer to this. Im legit crying right now bros. confused

Thankfully the acne will clear up when you're done with pred. Also remember to take calcium for your bones.

Is it normal to have flare up the cyst in my neck and face area? And in underarms?

After i stopped taking the prednisone, All acne starts to show up in my neck, face and underarms. Please explain to me what is happening. It will go back to normal?-

I had the worst acne when I was on prednisone. You should probably get your hormones checked - 3 years on pred is a long time. Those huge, cystic pimples can be hormonal, and these drugs can cause shifts in hormones. I also would be honest with your dermatologist about your steroid use, and about your IBD diagnosis. A lot of acne meds are bad with IBD. Acutane is known to be a potential trigger of IBD, and it could make IBD worse. I think what you're on is similar. I can't imagine any doctor prescribing that to someone with IBD. I take spirnolactone for my pimples, but it's really only an option for females. There are also birth control pills for women. Then there are some topicals that can help, antibiotics also work really well for me, but they are bad for IBD unfortunately. At a certain point, I would have done anything to get my skin clear. I had surgery so I could ensure no more pred.

I am assuming you're on pred for IBD? You didn't say. Are you taking other medications?

Give it a few weeks and any pred-related symptoms should disappear. Pred caused awful hormonal-caused acne in me, I got it at lower dosages, but it do go away in the weeks after ceasing pred.

Whenever I get spots (when I am on my moon) I use colloidal silver spray, its very helpful.

This thread is a bit old but ya it's going to take awhile for it to clear up. I have been off pred since January of 2017 and I still have back acne. It was definitely worse when I was on it and I have always had oily skin, but the pred definitely didn't help. It's just the way she goes.

Ask your Dr. for Retinal A skin cream. This is the only thing that helped me clear up my skin.

Im not sure if the above post is advertising and I don't want to click on the link - and the thread is old in any case - but have to say benzoyl peroxide will not work for everyone especially severe cases. I take the same pill as NSSG (spironolactone), it's the ONLY acne treatment that really worked for me. I also took accutane in the past and have wondered if it was a contributing factor for getting colitis, except there was a 15 year gap between stopping that and getting sick.
