Scary blood test results? Platelets and lymphs?

Hey Guys! Just wondered if anyone has had this issue....
I had a physical 2 weeks ago and last week they called with my results and told me that my platelets were elevated and then my absolute lymphs were slightly elevated as well. So on Monday I had another CBC done and I had very similar results.

05/04/2018
Platelet count: 383
Absolute lymphs: 4.9

05/14/2018
Platelet count: 397
Absolute lymphs: 4.6

Mind you, I had a colonoscopy back at the end of January and while they weren't able to complete the procedure because I reacted badly to the meds they gave me, they did see active inflammation in the area that they did get to so there's that. I haven't quite felt flare-y. I have 1 BM a day...sometimes 3 at the most. I have the squeaky gut sounds sometimes and sometimes recently I will find blood and mucous in my stool.

My question is - do you guys think the blood test results could be related to a flare? Or something else? Dr. wants to test me for food allergies as well as do some skin tests so I'm just curious and obviously paranoid!

I don't know much, but what I can tell you is I'd wait and retest again in a couple weeks, the allergy test sounds non-invasive. It sounds like your symptoms are bearable and you're not inconvenienced with symptoms. Can you do a FCP to see about inflammation? I think if you were inflamed you would have more symptoms.

What medications are you currently on? I saw an old post of yours listing apriso and canasa, not sure if you're on prednisone or any other medications as a result of your flare.

Here's my test results, for comparison:

Test................Value.....Reference Range
PLT.................250.......141-377 K/cmm
ABS Lymphs....1.43.......1.09 - 3.30 K/cmm

So you're just slightly out of range (397 and 4.6). I most certainly would not panic over that fact.

"Elevated platelet count is a well recognized marker of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) activity. "

You're platelet count is a little high, clinically a Thrombocytosis.

"In clinical practice, thrombocytosis is associated both with disease activity and iron deficiency anemia. Controlling inflammation and iron replacement in anemic patients usually leads to a normalization of PLT count."

Did your blood tests list your blood-iron-levels (i.e., hemoglobin)? Were they below the test's reference range (meaning an anemia)? If so, that would be the cause. We can become anemic during flares.

I am currently just on Canasa and Apriso. No prednisone!
I do take Toprol for tachycardia. But just 25mg/day.

Dr. didn't want to shake things up so she told me to wait a little while after that failed colonoscopy (which was just a routine procedure because I've had UC for close to 10 years and they wanted to look for any dysplasia), so she told me to wait a few months. I work on a horse farm and this is our busiest time of year so I am waiting til mid-summer to repeat. I have contemplated sending these results to my GI to see what she thinks too!
Blood test did list hemoglobin!
The one on 5/4/2018 was 12.6 and on 5/14/2018 was 12.8 and neither were low, just said normal!

I send her the results a little while ago so I am just waiting to hear back! I'm hoping she gets back to me soon. I tend to get anxious about these things and in turn, that makes my stomach feel yuck!
