Doctor ordered chest x-ray -- why?

Im having flare symptoms and my doctor just ordered all the usual labs, in addition to a chest x-ray. The nurse told me all this in a voicemail so I wasnt able to ask why. She made it sound like it was being done to see if I could possibly go on some medication in the future, but was very vague. Anyone know why a chest xray would be ordered for flare symptoms? He wants to scope me too after I get the labwork done. Thanks.

I bet it is a TB test.

I think i had to do a chest xray before biologics. Are you also getting the TB prick?

Yeah, I bet thats what it for, thanks. I dont want to take biologics though. Yeah, he had me do the skin prick in 2016. I think it said I was positive for TB, but they told me that test often gives false positives. Ive never been out of the country and dont know how I would have TB.

Hmm. Should I insist on a chest x-ray too? My doc ordered what's called a QuantiFERON Gold-TB test not an x-ray for TB...

My insurance company will not approve/cover certain Biologicals without a chest x-ray.

If you get a false-positive for TB, they will do a chest X-ray to confirm. No need to do a chest x-ray otherwise, Tristan.
