Has anyone with uc experienced a change in bowel movement and developed constipation for days instead of the usual diarhea every 2 hrs ? Is this considered a flare or what ![sad](/community/emoticons/sad.gif)
Answer: yes
It could be due to many different things and you are the best one to figure it out.
Maybe: change of food or healing gut and less D seems un-normal or just a difference in flare changing from D to C.
UC symptoms are pretty difficult to sort out. What is "normal" for one UC'er is not normal for another.
Start first with: did you eat anything different or change anything in your routine.
Food has a great influence on my gut and it took years (literally) to sort out the problem foods. Fiber is my biggest gut no-no and yes causes constipation. Fiber is being hidden in a lot of pre-packaged food because it bulks things up, is considered natural and may not even be listed in the ingredients and it's super cheap.
Doctors used to say "eat more fiber" to UC'ers but I've been seeing more studies come out that say hold off on fiber until your gut is better. That has been my conclusion too by listening and watching my gut's reactions, usually the next day.
"Low residue" diet is what GI's suggest when things get wonky.
Hope you feel better soon. I hate C, makes me feel tired and overall yukky.
