I have to say, for me, the first 6 weeks were pretty much the same in terms of number of bathroom trips - about 15-20 a day. Then suddenly in the last week or so I have found myself in the 10-15 range. So I can see how this will continue to improve!
My ability to pass gas is getting better, which is good (How may times did I RUN for the bathroom to find I only needed to pass gas?! It still happens, but a bit less.) And I am "holding it" when I can, to help stretch the pouch.
I saw my surgeon this past week, and he told me I have no restrictions regarding food or lifting. That's nice to say, but I am very conservative in adding new foods. For instance, I LOVE Italian food, but have not had even a pizza yet, having heard stories of horrible butt burn. But I have had horrible butt burn from some other foods, so... I am thinking I may take the plunge soon.
Part of my hesitance to branch out very much, food-wise, is that I feel like I am playing this game of "how few times can I poop today?" and I am reluctant to eat food that will mess with my score! lol I love the winter squashes (which have always caused me looseness and extra poops) but I tried butternut squash the other night and my "score" was affected for 2 days!
I gotta say, generally, improvement is slow, and I keep repeating to myself, "This is a marathon, not a sprint." But part of what I do for work involves a once-a-week gig and I can really tell, week to week, how much I am improving and feeling better. This weekly thing is a handy "landmark" in that regard, whereas daily improvements are hard to see.
I am a little nervous about a wedding I have in a few weeks, but I am hoping the little improvements will have me feeling even more comfortable by then. I have more and more moments, hours, of feeling great, so I feel like I have a glimmer of how I'll feel when fully healed. Woo hoo!
