Hi! I just joined this group as a hope of some relief as my doctor has been crap. I’m 19, pregnant and have ulcerative colitis. I got diagnosed 3 months after my son was born but managed it with diet, probiotics and omega 3. Well, I fell pregnant again July of this year and I have been in a flare since. Dropping about 7 pounds and I am already a slim girl sitting at 110 pounds. My doctor saw no problem with it since my iron levels were good and were my blood levels. However, I’m 20 weeks pregnant and still have had no avail. I’m terrified for labor because it’s going to be a real crap show. I am going about 10 times a day, a little bit bloody, and I have a unnornal amount of mucus. My urgency is terrible too. I have 5 seconds to make it to the bathroom when I have to fart and they have to be on the toilet because they come out with a crazy amount of mucus. The urgency is worse with a fart than with stool but they are both bad. I currently take the philips colon care probiotic 2, 2x a day, I just started Metamucil 3 capsules 2x a day, and I take Imodium at night to help stop my 3 trips I make at night to let out just what looks like grains of poop at the bottom of the toilet, nothing is formed. My stool for the most part is all loose and a lot of the times I go, it’s just the “grainy” stool at the bottom of the toilet but they come with terrible urgency. I haven’t been on any medications ever and I can’t currently get to any as the waitlist for the new OB I Want is not for another month. I cut out dairy which has helped with the bleeding ALOT and caffeine. I feel like my probiotic makes no difference, which is the best affordable one out there for UC? I was thinking of trying culterelle. Metamucil doesn’t seem to be making a difference ether. I feel like I’m stuck in this helpless endless cycle and I’m afraid of how my body will react post pregnancy and in labor. Please help me! Do not mention a doctor or medication that has to be prescribed because like I said, I’m in the process of getting medication!
