Hey guys,

For the last couple days I've been having this really uncomfortable feeling of not getting all the stool out when I use the bathroom. Does anyone have any experience of this? I vaguely remember a GI doctor telling me that incomplete evacuation was bad/abnormal (but am not sure of the context). Does anyone know if this is a preflare (UC) symptom, or maybe just constipation? For the last year or so I've also been having little streaks of blood on the TP on and off when I number 2. I figured that was just some hemorrhoids/constipation too, since I usually run a bit on the constipated side (and prefer it that way for whatever reason). Anyways, any input would be appreciated. Thanks!

I would always run on the assumption of it being a flare.....not such a thing as preflare in my opinion.

Your symptoms sound like low in rectum inflammation...aka flare......and I suggest you stepping up the enemas to nightly asap.

I'm impressed you didn't ignore these symptoms and wait for more the more obvious.

Streaks of blood on tp would probably be a hemmie at this point.

Likely rectum inflammation from a UC flare. Do you mean tensemus (repeat feeling you have to poop and then nothing or only tiny bits come out)? If so, then that's rectum-inflammation and the most annoying symptom of a UC flare.

I HATE them!!!!!

An antispasmodic can help to calm it down a bit.....dicyclomine has been helpful for me.

@quincy a year of medical school has made me very aware of the small signs lol

@ipoop The feeling is more like I need to go to the bathroom (0-2 times per day as per usual) and when I do, I kind of struggle a bit. I get most of it out, but at the end I feel like I can't get the rest out and usually end up not able to. Then the feeling goes away after I stop trying for a bit. So I've been debating between constipation and inflammation. But I've started to use the enamas more. I don't really have time to go to my GI for a couple weeks (for the 6 month apt.) so I'm just going to try increasing to daily and then taper down after a couple weeks like he had me do a couple years ago.

@quincy Yeah I was prescribed Diclyclomine. Use it only occasionally though. Usually when I've been having a bit of mucous, the GI has me use it and the Mucous goes away. Sometimes I use it for stomach aches too, but less for that.

10mg a few times a day during this stint will help.
The mucus helped by dicyclomine would mean more IBS if you dont have other symptoms.

None of us here are doctors, just UC patients like you are who might've picked up a few things over the decade(s) we've had this disease. Quincy works a hairdresser at a salon, if memory serves me correctly ;-)

Sam, no, but I had an amazing doctor for 25 years. He explained things well while I was in emotional distress about my symptoms while healing.... and gave me carte blanche to experiment with the use of enemas according to my symptoms. I learned a lot. His continual statement to me was "be patient"
My now doctor (of 5 years) is equally amazing....he supports my regimen and answers all my questions as well.

Yes, Im a hairdresser....mobile.
