I use isolate, because there is very little lactose in it. Regular whey doesn't work with me. However the body building isolates usually, if not always cause me issue as well, be it the sweeteners or fillers added. So I have a terrible time finding something I can stomach. The last brand I used (for many years) started adding probiotics to it and that threw my gut for a loop... after a gazillion dollars wasted trying new protein powders (and subsequent gut issues) I finally found this stuff at the grocery store of all places. Works like a charm for me and it inexpensive. Double win -

~700+ calories. I could handle walnuts this way. I don't think whey isolate/powder on it's own will help much in maintaining weight. You would need a source of fats and carbs mixed in. The liquid calories worked well in my system.
