Hi all,
I’ve been bridging with pred (40mg) for the past 4 weeks while I go through Remicade induction. Just had my second infusion 2 weeks ago and the doc started me on a 5mg/wk taper of the pred this week. I have, for reasons unknown but hopeful, tolerated the pred really well this time around.
Q1: I’ve had heartburn for the past 4 days, and occasionally over the past 2 weeks. I’m assuming this is due to the pred. Since I’m tapering, I’m wondering if it’s worth it to take omeprazole for a couple weeks, or if I should just do situational antacids. I’ve never had issues with heartburn. Anyone have a preference?
Q2: posted about
this before but as I’m having more (and more consistent) formed poop, my system is still trying to work out how to process it, resulting in really good days and nights intermixed with really terrible days and nights where it seems like it’s trying to clear out the leftovers. I’ve had some bloating and discomfort, but I always poop at least 4-6 times/day at this point, so it’s also not full constipation. I know that my system has to “remember” how to work (it’s been a luge for the last year) and I don’t want to inhibit that, even if it’s uncomfortable. On the other hand, I’m wondering if taking something like Colace every other day, just to head off the occasional dumpenings would be of greater benefit than detriment in that regard. Any experience/thoughts?
Thanks
