Hi All. I have been on xeljanz for 3 months and have been responding nicely - not a super fast response but nevertheless responding. In the last couple of weeks my symptoms seemed to reach a plateau: I have 2-4 BMs around breakfast time and the rest of the day feel pretty normal, bar occasional abdominal pain.
I'm perfectly happy if this is as good as it gets for me re symptoms. However now my doc would like me to wean off the induction dose (2x10mg) and onto the maintenance dose (2x5mg), mostly because of a possible increased risk of thrombosis at the high dose. I am afraid of flaring again if I do this, and moreover, this is the first time in 3 years I had anything close to remission and if I mess it up with xeljanz I will be going for surgery.
I'm wondering if there is anyone else out there who was a slow responder to xeljanz and successfully weaned down to the lower dose? E.g. suzy-q if you see this what dose does your hubby take? Or was there anyone who lowered the dose, flared, but was able to recover by going back on the higher dose?
Thanks in advance for any insight.
Happy pooping all.
