So I've had a basic whey protein powder for a few years. Never had any problem when I'd mix it with milk and drink before and after the gym on several weeknights a week. However, a few weeks ago I had the normal amount of protein and milk and fell pretty sick. Bad bloating, gas, cramping, and pain. I didnt know what to think of it and actually blamed the milk. So over the next two days I tried the protein with both soy milk and the next day with water. Exact same thing happened. Finally, last week I tried it one more time with regular milk and I felt the worst out of all of the days. Clearly something is amiss here.
Should I schedule an appointment with an allergist who can tell me if I have allergies or should I just chalk it up as an intolerance and move on? Sometimes I think we have some problems going on that we arent always aware of just because we blame UC by default. I also take medication for IBS so its just hard to know what is going on down there. My UC is under control. It isnt perfect, but it is at least close. Something I havent been able to say in a few years.
I also am looking for alternatives to whey protein. I have read about hemp protein. I would be interested in hearing what people take for additional protein. I am looking for something easy like a powder that I can mix and drink.
