Having surgery

Im in a situation that I have never faced before as I am getting a knee replacement done in early October.
In speaking to my surgeon about medications she figures I will have to give up my beloved Xeljanz for a couple of weeks prior.
Now as I have quoted many times on the forum this med has been working great for me hence the question how does one keep UC under control without this medication ?

You need a more definitive answer than a couple of weeks. There is a calculation that a doctor needs to do to figure out when enough of the medication out of your body.

When I had my hip replaced I had to go off of Stelara 3 months of my surgery and 3 months after surgery. I was off of it for almost 7 months by the time I had my loading dose of Stelara to restart.

In the interim I went back on antibiotics to control my IBD

It’s partially due to the impaired healing that these immunosuppressants cause.

Implanted joints can attract bacteria that cause infections. I had to take antibiotics for every teeth cleaning that I had for the first 3 years after my hip replacement.
