If the dentist RXed Flagyl + Augmenten for your implant surgery, those drugs are most likely the cause of your flare. It was nuts to prescribe that combo, an overkill. Most dentists RX Clindamycin, which is very strong by itself. Unfortunately Sherbear, who served as moderator here after you left for CA, and who had a lot of experience with dental implants, left our forum a few yrs ago. She advised me when I got a single premolar implant in 2012. It took me a yr to complete due to needed bone graft. Then I was fine with it for 5 yrs, 'til a couple medical CAT-scans with IV iodine contrast adversely affected that area in my mouth and I needed 4 oral surgeries + removal of implant in 2018. Since then I needed hemisection of molar behind that implant site + root canal on remains of the molar. One of my gyns who subspecializes in surgery told me more recently that some chemicals infused for diagnostic tests or cancer chemo treatment can disturb implants. So-- dental implants are cosmetically useful but require ongoing monitoring & mention to your health care providers if any persistent health problems crop up. / Old Hat (P.S. Thankfully, my UC med + 6 mo. gastro check-ups prevented flares during my dental treatments.)
