I know the term immunocompromised is being used as far as Covid vaccines. If you have UC but are not on biologics are you classified as immunocompromised?? Or is it just when you are in a flare??

As I understand it, mesalamine does not suppress your immune system. But the 6mp class of drugs and most biologics do.

It's the meds that cause the immune system to be compromised, not uc itself. Steroids can also compromise you, in addition to the other meds flowers mentioned.

We are considered “mildly immunocompromised” from our medications. That excludes 5ASA drugs.

If you want a booster shot then just tell them that you have an IBD and that would probably work.

We have an inflammation disease and one of the side effects of Covid are blood clots so it’s probably not a bad plan to get a booster or at least talk to your GI about it.

I work at a hospital and was told just yesterday by a pharmacist that I am eligible for the Covid booster since I am on Xeljanz, which is an immunocompromising drug. The fact that I have UC doesn't make me eligible, but the medication does.
