Flaring after three years of remission :(

Hey there,

I've been on Inflectra for three years and it has worked wonderfully. Two weeks ago I noticed a small amount of blood, then more, and then more. Now I'm recognizing and accepting I'm likely flaring. It's strange because my Infliximab levels were very high and no detectable antibodies just days before I saw the blood. Is that possible? Is it something else?

I'm on the maximum dosage and frequency of Infliximab so am afraid of where I might be sent next. Where might that be? Can they add a little more Imuran? Prednisone? I'm already taking Rowasa nightly.

Is there things people do to cut a flare off before it really gets going? Is that even possible or is it like a floodgate? Feeling sad about this whole thing.

Thanks for this. It feels reassuring. I've done the calpro test and had to be the one to ask for C.diff / stool panel. I just switched docs and my old one would always do C diff when I started to flare. It's strange I'm the one telling the doc to order it. Hoping he orders that then puts me on prednisone and it goes away. Everything takes time though with doctors and orders and testing, etc. Though thinking of it as run-of-the-mill that's easily beaten again helps me feel better and at the very least, more positive.
