Came across this article that talks of cortisone. Apparently in SA (as per the news) doctors are using it and ibuprofen to treat Omicron patients if their symptoms are mild. I have read a lot about pred on this forum. Is this similar? Also this article seems to say inflammation is stopped by stopping collagen producing cells from producing collagen? Am I reading this correctly? I know it is around Arthritis but I had the idea collagen was good for inflammation , joints and even works well for some with IBD.

Cortisone, hydrocortisone, prednisone, Prednisolone, and budesonide are all corticosteroids and have similar immune suppressive and anti-inflammatory affect on the body.

Cortisone is metabolized into hydrocortisone within the liver. Hydrocortisone is a much weaker and shorter lived steroid than Prednisone which is both stronger and longer lasting.

Cortisone injections have their purpose but aren't used in IBD.

I cannot say much about collagen.
