Since starting Inflectra I’ve had some minor skin issues. Mostly just really annoying. I get random pimples on my body. I had a big one on my back. I even had one on my stomach. Every time I shave my legs I end up with small pimples on random places on my legs. This has only been happening since being on Inflectra so I assume it’s related? As far as shaving I’ve tried shaving with a new razor each time, it still happens.
Has this happened to anyone else? Any advice? Maybe a certain kind of soap would help?

I've not heard of this with inflectra, but steroids definitely cause acne, if you were on those recently.

I was in budesonide recently. Would that have caused this?

Probably unlikely, but I wouldn't rule it out. This isn't really relevant probably, but budesonide gave me really bad stretch marks. I had never gotten any the many years I took pred off and on until I went on Uceris. And they kept coming even when I stopped gaining weight. Haven't noticed any new ones since getting off it. I also could barely lose weight while on uceris, but am now almost back to my normal weight after being off of it for nearly a year. So, they say it isn't absorbed systemically much, but I did have some systemic side effects from it. I was on it a long time though.

Steroids gave me terrible acne.
Skin complications are a common extra-intestinal manifestation of IBD, with or without meds

Did you have a lot on your body? How did you treat it?

Any recent diet changes?
I get facial acne after eating certain types of sugar (including honey). Haven't had back acne since I cut out gluten.

No diet changes and I’m not getting it on my face. Just randomly on my body. Arms, stomach, back. Every time I shave my legs I get them. Small white heads

Hey Haley,
Weirdly I answered your other question too. I think it's because I had a lot of Inflectra experience. As it happens, I had a LOT of skin issues on the drug. From abscesses, to fungus, to mouth and hand and feet sores, the whole gamut. It's a tricky thing these biologics. When you're immune system is lowered, you are susceptible to more types of infections, particularly skin. And if you're on Imuran too, that risk can increase even more. I haven't had exactly what you're describing but maybe make an appointment with a derm. You could prob get a medium-strength steroid for the time being until it all goes away. I've found these types of infections/issues are the trade-off to a flare-free life.

Haley,
I second the dermatologist suggestion. They can help you figure out what is going on.
So far this is what my derm has found with me....
I am on Remicade. It causes some of my skin to peel like a snake... Especially on my feet. So far that's the only one he has attributed to Remicade. Dry skin.
EIM....I am allergic to sunshine and have to use spf 100 to go outside even to walk to my car. I also now suffer from skin issues eczema and psoriasis. (Extra intestinal manifestation of UC/Crohn's) I now can use only carress soap, v05 shampoo and conditioner, baby lotion, and special laundrey soap. Small itchy white heads popped up in patches, then patches of psoriasis...usually in a specific area. I have a steroid cream I use that clears it up in 5 to 7 days. He hasn't been able to figure out why I can use the soap I can use...only that they are the only ones that do not cause me to break out....so we just are going with the flow. Brands matter.
