For the first time in 2 years because of covid. Didn't have much to discuss re my own UC because it's quiet at the moment. Talked a bit about
covid. I am at a university/research-intensive hospital, he said they have 2000 IBD patients and among that group there is no evidence of an increased risk of hospitalisation or being sent to ICU, even though most of us are taking immunosuppressive medication. He also said he hasn't seen any association between flare-ups and vaccines.

Thanks, poopydoop! That's good to hear. I wonder if part of that is due to those who are on immune suppressant meds are more vigilant about
mitigation measures (masking, distancing and vaccines).

Possibly...he seemed pretty relaxed about
covid. He is late 50s, had omicron a few weeks ago and said he only found out through a self test because he had no symptoms (he is 3x vaccinated of course). I also asked if covid itself could trigger a flare up and he said not.

My doctor has a similar view of not being so worried. After I got my vaccines we had a long conversation she really settled my fears. I also ended up catching covid and while I felt awful, I ended up fine. She does have a different view of it causing flares though. She’s said she’s had several patients (including me) who flare from having it.

My doctor had a different view last time I saw him. He said Omicron just wasn't as dangerous for many people. Ironically his physician assistance view is different from his on some things. So this can be confusing.
He told me at the beginning that the vaccine has caused flares for some-his PA now said nope it doesn't.

That's good to hear. My GI told me the opposite about
covid itself causing flareups for some, so that's interesting.

Sara,
I know. My GI has waffled on it. "Yes it does, no it doesn't, maybe it does" My head is spinning. I want to tell him and his PA to just make up their minds and stick with it. But I am trying to play nice...

Clo: Lol. Yeah, there are probably just too many unknowns still at this point. I guess the cause of any UC flares to begin with is far from clear-cut.
