Remicade, the good the bad & ugly

Well, I haven't been here in ages but after almost 8 years of perfect remission, now it's time for Remicade. Remicade has been around for over 20 years, what do the people here who are on it think of Remicade?
I'd like to get a feel of how well it works or not, side effects etc. Ive read tons of the stuff on the web but there's nothing like a study group like this to get the real dope. Let me know what you think.

Check out my post from today, 6/29, about Remicade and endoscopic remission. I have been on Remicade for 9 months and had a good response after several weeks. No side effects in my case.
Also see HaleyA's post "How do you confirm remission...." which sounds like another positive story.

It took me a long time with several frequency/dosage changes to get to complete remission on Remicade (see my sig), but I had a response very quickly and was able to resume normal life and get off prednisone. Good luck!!

Thanks for the replies, my doc says Remicade will get a flare under control the quickest. It seems Humara, Etivyo, Remicade are all very similar meds with Entivyo having the highest success rate. A biologic is that last thing I want to be on but if it works and gets me my life back, I'll do it,

I have been on Remicade since my hospital admission in October of 2020 after Entyvio failed. I feel well for the first time in three years. I hope that you have a similar positive experience.

I’ve had a great experience. No side effects other than being tired right after the infusion and I currently have no symptoms.

Remicade, when it works is amazing.
It works incredibly quick. And it is very effective in reducing inflammation. It saved my colon 6 years ago when there was a lot else out there. It lost its effectiveness for me but it really was amazing when it did work.

Hi Hugo, thanks for your reply. Remicade just stops working for some people? Does that affect how other biologics work? I mean if you fail Remicade does that mean something like Humara will also be ineffective after that? Ive read that you cannot stop and start Remicade, Im trying to understand how it works and interacts with our immune system, this is all very new to me. Also what can you do when Remicade loses it's effectiveness, there are not many meds left in the toolbox for UC after biologics, what is your doctor recommending for you at this point?

There are numerous meds left in the tool box if remicade doesn’t work for you.
We are all very lucky to live today with many different mechanisms for us to reduce our inflammation via biologics.
If you failed remicade there are at lseveral. other meds you could try.
