Besides Stelara, Xeljanz may be a viable option for you too. For many people (my husband included), he knew within a week that it was working. 7 years later, it’s still working.

Hey girl
I have never responded to enemas of any kind but did ask for them again and was told no. My doctor isn't a fan and neither were the hospital doctors. They said its not good to add them when already on prednisone or iv steroids. Even when I was on Entocort and going like 30x a day, I seriously doubt they would have been the thing to keep me out of the hospital. I just spit them back out as soon as they go in. I went downhill super fast after the Shingrix shot and dont think any home treatments would have helped by that point. I hope you are more responsive to them! Also, I saw the terrorist attacks on the news and not sure what other countries you were headed to besides Turkey but I have a feeling recreational travel inwards may be affected (and most likely safer to be at home anyway).

Thanks for the replies!
Yep Xeljanz has been on my mind. But as Iam not responding to Rinvoq anymore, i seemed to have failed it rather quickly within just 6 months, Iam not too keen to try another JAK inhibitor just yet. It’s still an option though.
And yeh travel insurance companies can be really shifty. I can’t find a reliable one here in Australia for people with chronic conditions like UC.
Oh and the war! OMG crazy what’s happening over there! No stability in the middle east unfortunately. Things can turn messy and deteriorate rather quickly, a bit like a UC flare up.
Sigh. It is what it is. The news made me anxious tbh so Iam going to try avoid watching the news for a while. Especially while iam taking prednisone as that on its own jacks up my anxiety anyway.

Xeljanz is very similar to rinvoq. If rinvoq is not helping, I doubt Xeljanz will be any better...

Poopydoop: thank you. Yeh that’s what Iam thinking too. I have started the Stelara anyway. I think it’s still an option though as it works on both JAK1 and JAK3, where as the Rinvoq works more on JAK1.
Midge22: thank you so much for the insurance recommendation!! I’ll definitely look it up and get in touch with them. I have been looking for an insurance company that deals with pre-existing conditions and the ones I found all had bad reviews for claims. Or they did not have contact numbers and were only reachable via emails or some out-of-country phone number. The only good reviews came from people who never needed to claim, just saying the policies were easy to purchase.
So yes thank you so much for the recommendation I’ll check it out.
