Weird bleeding issues for 6 months

I’ve been having mild bleeding episodes for a number of months and went to see a colorectal surgeon who diagnosed Hemmorhoids. I don’t have diarrhea but do have anal soreness, blood on tissue and stools, and lots of mucus.

I’m told mucus is a sign of Hemmorhoids as is soreness and that colitis is more associated with diarrhea and pain.

Question: shall I add a rectal mesalazine suppository just in case it is proctitis? A low dose one can’t hurt can it? Might even help with the hemmoroids!

Thoughts

I sometimes have mucus during flares and can get sore from pooping many times per day so not sure those symptoms are diagnostic of any one thing. Likewise, I've only had one flare (my first) where I had diarrhea and that was when it was pancolitis. I always check my calprotectin level if I suspect I'm flaring. This test doesn't work for everyone but it works really well for me (have had enough scopes to see how calprotectin correlates with inflammation )

As others said you can try it to see if it helps. When dealing with hemmies drs tell the patient what to do for them. What did the dr suggest.

Steroid ointment? Sounds fair to treat rectally anyway.

Mucus can happen with IBS, irritation or inflammation. When the area is more severely inflamed, there is much less mucus. Whenever the rectum or colon is ticked off and trying to protect itself, it can produce extra mucus, so your doc's explanation is incorrect. Disagreeable food or increased bowel activity can cause more mucus.
If I'm flaring and it's in early super mild stages, I'll definitely have mucus on its own without bms. It's a noted symptom and I increase the enemas.

If you can get the hydrocortisone/pramoxine 1% combo (foam, 10-gram canister) over The Pond, it can be a big help in treating internal hemmies. In the U.S. it's called Proctofoam HC. / Old Hat (40+ yrs with left-sided UC; in remission taking Colazal)

I’m abroad and they don’t have Pramoxine here so I am trying Proctosedyl instead. Took the Salofalk 1g last night. The bleeding has subsided but for some reason I feel like I am getting extra bowel movements doing these lock treatments.

The number of BM’s is 3 a day and little more mucus. The blood has gone down. I’m doing:

Proctocedyl ointment
Mesalamine 1g Suppository

I started the suppository last night and will continue it even it’s from stuff I already had not anything the doctor prescribed. Not sure whether that’s a good idea or not.

Retention mesalamine enemas for sure or start by using the supps 2x daily. What is the location extent of your original CC diagnosis...but for sure your rectum is involved as I recall?
Are you on probiotics?

Did your doc say what to do about the hemorrhoids?

Internal hemmies have been noted on my scopes. I never had any issue with them, but a few days ago there was bright red blood when I wiped. I am hoping it was because of the hemmie. I had a few days of poor diet and was constipated the day before and did a lot of straining. Everything has been ok the last couple days so fingers crossed that it wasn't the start of anything bad.
