I was noticing the poll on the age when people were diagnosed and made me wonder. For those people who have had intestinal problems since birth were you breast fed or formula fed?

I was breast fed and had problems from birth. I have always thought breastfeeding is the best thing and am concerned I will not get the chance because of Imuran. (not pregnant now but in the next couple of years we are planning to start a family)

Formula here. My mother tells me I spit up constantly as a baby. Something was obviously very wrong. Too bad breast feeding wasn't in vogue back in the day.

Both my UC kiddos were breast fed. One did not have any problems until around 5 years of age, one first had blood in her stool at the age of 5 months. They are now 16 (dx '02) and 8 (dx 08/07).

Bratcat
, as well as her brothers, were all breastfed. Her older brother was breastfed the longest. He has probably been the healthiest of all 3 kids. Very rarely sick. He was always a picky eater and, I believe, does have IBS.
Bratcat
was breastfed for close to the whole first year. Growing up she had minor colds. No real problems with her digestive system except definitely IBS to ice cream and fast foods (as do I). Younger brother was breastfed the shortest amount of time (just over 6 months). Very healthy appetite but he has asthma, has sensitive skin (always gets a rash from something or another). He has been getting better as he grows.
