Want elective surgery next year but confusing heart problems may stand in the way(confused ekg)

Hello all. Next year I am planning on having rhinoplasty, but ahead of time, I’m trying to get to the bottom of heart issues and straitened this out. I went for a EKG last week that showed pericarditis/st elevation/ sinus rhythm. My cardiologist brushed it off and said it was nothing. She then ordered me a stress test and a ultrasound of the heart(I did the ultra sound the same day). flash forward to Today, I had another ekg at a hospital(I checked in for a foot reason) and it showed a couple of things. First it showed peaked T-levels in the ambulance, which was weird. They did more ekgs, and Even the ambulance people were trying to figure out the different results the ekgs were showing. Eventually they said that my heart rate was fine but something was going on, maybe with my electrolytes. Then I had another one at the hospital, which showed probable Left Ventricular Hypertrophy and probable right bundle branch block. Strangely enough, last year when I went to the hospital, I had LVH also, but never knew. mad mad the doctor told me since I was tall and slim, that LVH was normal and since it showed up on my ekg from last year, that it would be nothing to worry about. He then did a minor echo test(I’m calling it minor cause according to the doctor, that machine wasn’t as good as the echo machine that the cardiologist use) which showed my heart function was normal and that the left side just pumped more blood than the right. I go for the stress test tomorrow and I’m just a bit stress. I try not to be stressed, as that doesn’t help but I can’t help it. Has anybody had different EKG results pop up?

Disclaimer(I should of put this at the top) no I’m not asking for a diagnosis so please don’t lock the thread or think I’m looking for answers from people who are not doctors. I just want to talk to people who have experienced multiple ekg results and LVH since I’m not well versed on that. I’m a 27 year old male

I thought I'd drop by and offer some advice. Trust your cardiologist, take the stress test, and if you still aren't satisfied with your doctor's advice - seek a second opinion. He may actually have you see an electrophysiologist. I don't suffer from the same issues as you, but I've dealt with SVT and had my heart rate as high as 220 bpm. I've also had normal EKG results, and never had any problems arise with my multiple stress tests. I do know that electrolyte imbalances can cause heart issues. Do you suffer from high blood pressure?

Thank you and no,y blood pressure is normal. My blood work for my heart is normal. The minor echo test is normal. Only the EKG that shows problems plus I have symptoms such as pain in the chest and some other symptoms as well.

Hi Tory, SharonZ is correct about the stress test. The stress test will show how your heart performs with exercise. EKG's can vary, depending on the tech & even the machine used. You are on the right track with the cardiologist. It is scary any time we hear the heart being involved, even when our PCP's casually say it could be this or that, it can be unnerving for the patient. I have been getting echos done for years with my cardiologist. I have never heard of a PCP running something like a mini echo.

Get whatever testing that needs to be done. Once you visit with the cardiologist to go over the results & if you are not satisfied with what you are being told, get a 2nd opinion.

Thank you stray. It wasn’t a pcp who did the echo. I went to the hospital/emergency room for a foot problem. While I was there, I told the doctor of my chest pain in my heart area. He decided to use a echo to see the heart himself, but according to him, the machine he used wasn’t as good or detailed as say, the ones the cardiologist use.

Tory, sorry I misunderstood about the echo. To be honest, I have never heard of a mini echo. Regardless, I hope your stress test goes well for you. You will not be given results today, they usually say the test will be interpreted by your dr. At least this is what I always told.

No it’s ok and thank you. I should have left the “minor” part out, I was only respecting what the doctor told me. I took my stress test today and results will be available next week. I’m a bit nervous and don’t think I passed, but hats just than anxiety talking.

My cardiologist actually was with me for my stress test, I guess that was a little out of the norm. Try not to worry about whether you "passed" the stress test. It's almost impossible to interpret how you did.

Hey everyone. I have some interesting news. I passed the stress test and had a normal echo. I do, however, have mild mitral regurgitation, mild tricuspid reg, and mild pulmonary reg. My doctor, however, says all 3 are normal and nothing to worry about. I do, however, have chest pains specifically in the heart area still and shortness of breath, not to mention my blood pressure is still somewhat high. I’m going for a second option soon but i don’t know why it’s still painful like this

Tory, so glad to read about your testing. Mild regurg is something that does not raise a red flag with the drs. Depending on the dr they may tell a patient to come back as needed or monitor a patient periodically.

I think it’s good that you are getting a second opinion, if this dr agrees then this should give you some peace of mind. Keep us posted.
