Can I take an extra metaprolol tartrate? I am having an episode of Tachycardia

I was diagnosed a few months ago with supraventricular tachycardia. I was put on metaprolol tartrate, which has worked pretty well. I had one mild instance of tachycardia. Tonight, however, I am having the tachycardia again. Can I try taking an extra tablet? I took one about 6 hours ago.

I am sorry I was away last evening. Never take a double dose of any medication without talking to a physician unless your physician order on your prescription bottle states that you should under certain conditions.
